Oregon – Post 32, named for Sgt Calvin Funk, resides in the heart of Cottage Grove in District 3 of the Oregon Department.

Calvin Funk Post #32 was founded in Cottage Grove, Oregon, on August 22, 1919 and named after Sergeant Calvin Funk, who was the first soldier from Cottage Grove to be killed in action in Europe during WWI. The post has active American Legion, Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and Legion Riders components. Together, we:
Host the annual Cottage Grove Memorial Day service at the Cottage Grove Armory,
Sponsor Boy Scout Troop 140,
Post flags on main street on the 11th of each month in conjunction with Buster’s Café,
Sponsor local youth for Boy’s State and Girl’s State,
$2500 in scholarships for Cottage Grove High School seniors going to college, which is funded by Friday bingo events at the post.
VA use of our facilities every the third Wednesday or each month to help local veterans with VA claims,
Host yearly flag retirement ceremonies for respectful disposal of worn out American flags,
Manage the flag pole at Veteran’s Park, at the corner of W. Main Street and N. River Road,
Rent out the hall for community events.
American Legion and Sons of the American Legion monthly meetings are the first Saturday of every month at 1200 noon at the Legion Hall, at 826 W Main Street in Cottage Grove.
